Originally hailing from Prince George’s County, Shauntia is an entrepreneur, educator, and advocate. Shauntia has conducted research on women, families, and children in Ethiopia, China, South Africa and Kenya, and continues to volunteer across local, state and federal government on various projects to address workforce improvements, substance abuse, and domestic violence, just to name a few. 

Shauntia has extensive experience in grant reviewing, having evaluated diverse grant applications across multiple programs. Notably, in the summer of 2022, she reviewed grants for the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Fund under the AZ Governor’s Office for Youth, Faith and Family, assessing proposals aimed at enhancing workforce development and community engagement. From 2020 to 2021, she served as a grant reviewer for the Emerging Leaders Fund of the Greater Washington Community Foundation, where she evaluated funding requests aimed at fostering leadership and community development among young professionals. Additionally, in 2017, Shauntia has contributed to the Sharing Prince George’s initiative by the Greater Washington Community Foundation, reviewing applications focused on local community improvement projects. Through these roles, she has honed my skills in evaluating the feasibility, impact, and sustainability of proposed projects.

Currently, she is a full-time faculty member at Grand Canyon University where she teaches majority social work and sociology classes.

Shauntia holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Science from Oklahoma State University, a Bachelor’s degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an Associates Degree with honors from Prince George's Community College. She is certified in Human Service Leadership and Management, Nonprofit Management and Leadership, Entrepreneurship Education, and Political Campaign Management.
